Location:
Dickson Valley is located in north central Illinois only 1 hour from most Chicago land, Rockford, and LaSalle communities. The camp can be reached easily from the 88 and 80 interstates via routes 47, 71 and 34. The camp is situated along the Lower Fox River with everything accessible through many hiking trails. Even with this close proximity to so many communities, the camp provides a peaceful setting and many opportunities for ministry and recreation in its natural wooded setting.
Setting:
Dickson Valley Camp and Retreat Center is located on 150 acres of heavily wooded land with one half mile of Fox River frontage. The Dickson Sedge Meadow is located below our gym facility and is a Registered Natural Heritage Landmark by the state of Illinois. Approximately 15 acres of wetland, the Sedge Meadow is full of plant and wildlife. it is not uncommon to see deer feeding in the morning and hear wild turkey gobbling in the evenings. Our property is criss-crossed with many trails designed to highlight the natural surroundings and foster some peaceful time to reflect and to rest.
Indoor/Outdoor Facilities:
Dickson Valley can provide housing that is best suited to the size of your individual group. Five lodges, sleeping from 18 to 45, with a total of 156 beds can be reserved exclusively or in combinations that best suit your needs. All lodges have at least one meeting room with a fireplace, carpeted dorm rooms and at least two bathrooms.
Our Dining Hall is located on the main floor of the Chrouser Lodge. Seating capacity is 200 with meals served buffet style.
The Chrouser Sports Center is a 8,000 square foot year round facility with full volleyball court, basketball court, climbing wall, games area with ping pong, foosball, carpet ball and stock full with sports equipment.
Other outdoor areas include an outdoor chapel seating 100, two miles of winding trails, challenge course, sports field, obstacle course, rope bridge over pond, mini-golf, frisbee golf, archery range, winter tubing hill, and swimming lake with waterslide, paddle boats, ski carousel.
